Joint commemoration of Nazi victims and the Carinthian post-war victims of the Tito regime
The day before, Austria's ambassador to Slovenia laid Sigrid Berka, the association chairman of the German-speaking cultural associations in Slovenia, Christian Lautischer and the chairman of the “Club korokih Slovencev v Mariboru” (Club of the Carinthian Slovenes in Marburg), Daniel Grafenauer, in memory of the Carinthians and also the Slovenian post-war victims at the church in Lee / Liescha (Slovenia) a wreath of the Carinthian consensus group.
At the memorial at the cemetery in Klagenfurt-Annabichl, KHD chairman Josef Feldner commemorated the millions of people, those from racial, were murdered and regretted for religious and ideological reasons by the National Socialist regime of injustice, that humanity has learned nothing from the uniqueness of this horror, like the flame of hatred with hundreds of millions of innocent victims that has been blazing worldwide in hundreds of bloody wars to this day” proofs. In conclusion, Feldner:
“On the whole, we cannot move anything, but we can consolidate regional reconciliation in the best possible and lasting way as a strong foundation for togetherness and for one another, exemplary for all peoples, Cultures and religions worldwide.”
Marjan storm, Member of the Carinthian consensus group and retired chairman. of the Slovenian Central Association led i.a.. out:
“Today we commemorate the victims of the National Socialist regime, but also the victims of the partisans' post-war revenge. Integration and peacekeeping require “dialogical remembering”.It is important, to deal with and explore the legacy of the Third Reich on a personal level, what your own family and therefore inevitably have to do with the Nazi era.”
When remembering the Carinthian civilians murdered after the end of the war at the victims' memorial in Lee / Liescha, Ambassador Sigrid Berka also gratefully mentioned them, “Who made it possible to commemorate in Liescha by breaking the silence.” However, the commemoration was “from the very beginning focused on reconciliation and not on revenge.” Danijel Grafenauer from the Club of the Carinthian Slovenes in Maribor / Marburg emphasized that “every victim deserves a name and a place of remembrance, and that dealing with history is very important for living together and shaping the future in the Alpe Adria region.” Christian Lautischer, on behalf of the German-speaking cultural associations in Slovenia, also recalled the terrible fate of civilians who had been abducted from Carinthia after the end of the war.
