The FPÖ answers the questions of the Carinthian homeland service
Which measures are most urgent for your party in the next legislative period of the Carinthian state parliament, to ensure the well-being of the country and its citizens?
In the area of protection of the natural landscape, the environment and the climate?
FPÖ: Important is, that all measures of energy- and environmental policy always take place from a socially and economically acceptable point of view. Basically, we in Carinthia need the existing resources, such as hydropower and biomass, use more and also rely on the sun. To protect nature and our alpine pastures, we speak out against chalet villages, second home- and wind turbine projects in untouched nature and on untouched alpine pastures. At the same time, however, tourist and economic use and development of areas that have already been cultivated must be possible.
In the field of social justice and the preservation of prosperity?
FPÖ: In order to maintain our prosperity, we have to teach young people basic values on the one hand, but also perspectives on the other, on the other hand it must be clear, that without achievement there can be no prosperity. It's safe too, that illegal migration into our social system does not ensure long-term prosperity, but endangered.
In the area of maintaining and strengthening the business location?
FPÖ: On the one hand, we have to take care of it, that performance is finally worth it for every working person in Carinthia, on the other hand, incentives are needed specifically for young people. That is why we have to create an attractive living space, of the demand in terms of jobs, housing and opportunity, establish a foothold in Carinthia, covers. This also includes educational offers and services such as the free kindergarten.
In the field of education and job security?
FPÖ: To address the labor shortage, educational measures are needed, targeted innovations in apprenticeship training and in the area of the companies themselves. With the establishment of a medical university for Carinthia - against the shortage of doctors - as well as the upgrading of teaching - e.g. by introducing an apprenticeship-completion bonus – we could contribute to a turnaround. So far, the potential of the older generation has remained almost untouched. With our request 60 plus we are committed to it, that retirees, who want to work, can do this too, without deductions.
What attitude does your party take towards the Carinthian homeland- and traditional associations, who feel committed to maintaining national patriotism and the traditions of defensive struggles and referendums?
FPÖ: Such associations are important, to preserve values and basic knowledge about homeland and history, convey and bring to life. We see it as an intolerable situation, that, for example, the Carinthian defensive battle was completely left out of the Carinthian State Museum and there is no corresponding exhibition there.
How do you rate the joint commemoration for all victims of war, Dictatorship and violence on Carinthian soil?
FPÖ: We feel that a common commemoration is right and important, because it is essential, knowing and pointing out Carinthian history, that those times existed. This is how we create awareness, to do anything for it, so that we never have to experience times like this again.
What is your understanding?- and reconciliation work of the home associations in relation to the Carinthian minority issue and ethnic group politics?
FPÖ: Much has been done in this regard. The Slovene ethnic group in Carinthia is demonstrably one of the best supported minorities in Europe. It is important to note that, that all measures are not exaggerated and ultimately turn negative. It would be desirable, that our neighboring countries would also act in this way and that the German-speaking ethnic group in Slovenia would also be recognised.
What measures do you want to take to preserve the historically grown Carinthian identity, an indispensable part of which is also the Slovene language and culture?
FPÖ: Promoting bilingualism in kindergartens, Schools and music schools as well as support for Slovenian culture- and sports clubs is federal- and state laws so well developed, that there is no urgent need for action.
What measures do you intend to take in the future to maintain and strengthen the Alps-Adriatic Peace Region??
FPÖ: This includes maintaining and expanding the cultural, economic and social coexistence across borders. "Senza confini" must be the basic idea, which the deceased Governor Jörg Haider already lived, and with which it was possible to contribute to a significant strengthening of the peace region.
Which projects would you initiate in the sense of "senza confini" in the coming years??
FPÖ: The cross-border promotion of joint projects in Carinthia, Slovenia and Italy is through Interreg and drawing on EU funds (ERDF- European Regional Development Fund and the Cohesion Fund) well organized. The goal must be, that Carinthia can realize as many investments as possible through these funds.
What possibilities do you see with regard to the shutdown or safeguarding of the Krsko nuclear power plant?
FPÖ: To switch off or. to secure the nuclear power plant, essential measures are needed at diplomatic and political level. Appropriate motions by the FPÖ have already been tabled in the National Council. The recently agreed lifetime extension of the nuclear power plant is a heavy blow for Carinthia. The nuclear power plant would have to be shut down immediately. This would require massive resistance from the federal government and corresponding action in Brussels.
How do you feel about the dialogue between former opponents of the political and military conflicts of the 20. century?
FPÖ: This is perhaps the greatest benefit of the EU, that dialogue between opponents has become almost a matter of course and that many young people don't even know it anymore, what terrible deep ditches there used to be.
What possibilities do you see, to obtain ethnic group rights for the old Austrian residual ethnic group with German mother tongue in Slovenia?
FPÖ: One thing needs to be emphasized more emphatically in talks with Slovenian politicians: The state of Slovenia falls far short of European standards and even further behind the level of support in its dealings with the old Austrian minority, that Austria creates for the Slovenian minority in Carinthia, return. If that doesn't change soon, there will soon be no more old Austrians in Slovenia. That would be a heavy loss for diversity in Central Europe.
In the National Council, the motion regarding "Recognition of the German-speaking ethnic group in Slovenia" (543/A(E)) decided unanimously (https://www.parlament.gv.at/gegenstand/XXVII/A/543
